"It is the unanimous decision of this court that General Lysis be deprived of all his past honours. He is to be under house arrest until the day of his execution, that day to be determined by Leader Desslok!" -- Krypt
Lysis is formally charged by the Gamilon military senate, and is condemned to death. But, Leader Desslok simply refuses to sign the papers. He says,
"I know Lysis is rash, even dangerous. But he is the only one of my generals who DOES something... unlike those who sit in judgement on him."
Pardoned, Lysis formally calls for a final battle with the Star Force. Special equipment: warp transporters ("Space-Matter Instant Transforming Equipment", SMITE) and a drill missile to disable the Wave Motion Gun.
Captain Avatar addresses the crew saying,
Our mission is to bring peace to Earth, not war to the Universe.
But our enemy has other plans.
Therefore, gentlemen, we must fight and fight WELL!
"Just as YOU have a mission, so have WE,
and we consider your presence in the Galaxy a threat to our survival."
-- Lysis to Avatar
Lysis succeeds in ramming the drill missile into the Argo's Wave Gun muzzle. The battering that the ship takes from Lysis's fleet succeeds in rendering it defenseless. But, Sandor manages to cause the drill missile to reverse itself and fly right back at Lysis's fleet, destroying all but the flagship.
Lysis maneuvers his flagship up under the Argo's hull and detonates a big "bomb", taking a good chunk of the Argo with it. In the American version, Lysis is shown regretfully returning to Gamilon, defeated.
Note: In the original Japanese version, the "bomb" Lysis detonates is his own flagship (because he knows that he cannot possibly return to Gamilon in defeat).
