"Starflies? ...quite amusing. And right now, anything that amuses me is most welcome. Even starflies." -- Desslok
Starflies are cute spaceborn organisms that glow like fireflies. To gain favour with Desslok, Gamilon General Garrot devises a plan to loose a swarm of starflies, infected with a metal-corrosive bacteria, on the Star Force.
Thinking them cute, Star Force personnel take the starfly bait, even after the bridge crew observes Gamilon ships on the time radar dumping starflies into space. The starflies get loose, and get into the Argo's systems, resulting in system-wide electrical failure. The Gamilon carrier then moves in to attack. Desslok calls to reveal himself to the Star Force, who are surprised to no end to learn that Desslok is still around.
But, Sandor and Roister manage to repair the ship's systems in time to fend off the Gamilon carrier. The starfly swarm has managed to infest the carrier as well, making it defenseless and forcing its retreat.
A year ago, on the verge of completing its dangerous mission to Iscandar, the Star Force was trapped on Gamilon where Desslok waited to take his revenge. But, once again, the Argo fought free of the trap. This time, the planetary mayhem they caused destroyed most of the domestic Gamilon fleet.
Desslok narrowly escaped with part of his space fleet. The Star Force went on to Iscandar, where Starsha gave the the precious CosmoDNA that would remove the radioactive pollution from Earth.
Then, on the return voyage, at the rim of the Solar system, Desslok tried to defeat the Star Force one last time. Desslok fired his new Desslok Cannon (a Gamilon Wave Motion Gun). But the Argo's Magnetic Gilt Reflector force-field reflected the energy back at Desslok's flagship, destroying it. And the Star Force had every reason to believe they had seen the last of him.
...But, just before the ship was atomized, Desslok attempted
to warp it into the fourth dimension. Desslok and his crew
were scattered in sub-space where they were later found and
rescued by the forces of the Comet Empire.
Ve'll be able to bring him back to life. But vhy bother? Joo know who he is, don't joo? ... I zink zomeday joo'll regret dis. He's de only man strong enough to take de Empire avay from us!" -- Invidia
Note: Inconsistency: The original First Season footage of Desslok's ship being destroyed shows it happening far to quickly for Desslok to have warped the ship. In fact, much of the flashback footage here in the Second Season episode was remade -- and shows Desslok's "old" flagship redrawn in the design of his new flagship (used throughout this Second Season).
"Treleina of Telezart will wait in vain. Perhaps I shall call her and offer your regrets! Ha hmmm hmmmm." -- Desslok
The Star Force spots a conspicuous-looking hollow asteroid, and decides that it would make for a natural repair dock in which they might repair the damage from the starflies.
In reality, it is a Gamilon trap (of course), lined with electromagnetic force-fields. Upon entry, the Argo is stuck. Desslok's fleet moves in to destroy the Star Force with the Desslok Cannon.

But Desslok's countdown is critically delayed by a phone call from Princess Invidia, and the Star Force manages to propel itself out of the force-field with the recoil force of the Wave Motion gun -- just in time. Invidia orders Desslok back before he can pursue the Argo. She waits to arrest him on false charges, fearing his designs on the Comet Empire throne.
The Star Force arives at Telezart.
