Title : Yamato Perfect Manual #2 RA# : Excellent 54 Pub/Date : Tokuma Shoten/1983 Pages : 244 Price : 1300 yen
Glossy colour cine digest; EXHAUSTIVE rough and final designs for characters, mechanics, and scenes.
Covers the story of New Journey, Be Forever (partially), and TV Season3, including each episode, in digest form. Glossy cine digests and rough and final designs are all that are included for each story.
A special colour mechanical glossary was thoughtfully included, listing photos and names of all machines and ships from all episodes and movies before Final Yamato. Earth, Gamilon, Comet Empire, Black Nebulan, Galmans, and Bolar goodies.
This Roman album is larger than most, and is especially valuable because it contains the digest Yamato: New Journey. New Journey never got its own Roman Album. It also includes a nice glossy section covering the Yamato pilot film made before the first TV season. It's quite interesting to see Gamilon ships painted in camoflauge!
Two rather annoying points about this RA are that it skips a few episodes of the Yamato 3 TV series, and a VERY thin cine digest covering of Be Forever Yamato. In fact, the only glossies from Be Forever are a single fighter attack scene. This is probably due to the fact that the Be Forever Roman Album was still in re-print at the time the Perfect Manuals were developed. It seems they were designed to supply the Yamato fan with info she could not otherwise currently get on the market. The mechanical design pages for Be Forever are quite exhaustive, though.
The cover illustrations on the outer jacket differ from those on the actual outer cover of the book (which is unusual). Both illustrations are quite beautiful. The inner cover illustration is of Yamato sleeping in the setting sun, locked into the sea bed on Earth before its first awakening.
